Difficulty Logging In?

There are two reasons you might be having difficulty.

1)  Your browser may not accept a new password - It is common for your browser (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari) to save your old password and automatically insert it into the password field when you open this page and attempt to enter your new password.  If you open a PRIVATE BROWSER WINDOW, your computer WILL NOT automatically insert a saved password.

If you have trouble with your password, it may have something to do with your browser and how it will sometimes replace the password you enter, with a password you entered in the past.

Your browser saves your password to make it easier to return to a site you used in the past. If you change your password or enter it incorrectly, your browser may replace any new password you enter with the prior password. This makes it act as if you entered an incorrect password making it impossible to log in.

You have a few options

1. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies (https://its.uiowa.edu/support/article/719).

2. You could use another browser (Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari)

3. You can use another computer

4. You can open a browser in what's called private browsing.

Any of these will prevent your browser from replacing your password with a past one.

Private Browsing

Private browsing is accomplished differently depending on the browser and version you are using on your computer.  If one of the examples below does not fit your situation, do a search on "How to open private browsing with (your browser and version). Private browsing is also referred to as "Incognito mode" in Google Chrome, or "InPrivate" in Internet Explorer.

How to Open a Tab in Private Bowsing

Mozilla Firefox: select "Start Private Browsing" from Tools menu or orange button.  You can also click the file tab and then New Private Window

Google Chrome: File "New incognito window" or use the Wrench icon

Opera: Press Ctrl+Shift+N keys together or select "New Private Tab" from Tabs and Windows menu

Safari: Choose File > New Private Window, or switch to a Safari window that's already using Private Browsing. ...

Internet Explorer --To open an InPrivate Browsing window, you can either use the Ctrl+Shift+P shortcut key, or just use the Safety \ InPrivate Browsing item on the menu. On more modern versions of IE, you can find that through the Gear icon, and then Safety \ InPrivate Browsing as seen below.

2) Wrong email or password - You are either using the wrong password, the wrong email, or you need to capitalize a letter in the password. Password are case sensitive. You may want to simply reset your password.  Click the "Reset Your Password" link above. Enter your email and click the "Get New Password" button. The system will send you an email with a link to a page to set a new password. Note: If you enter an email that has not been used to set up an account, it will shake.

If that happens look for the email we sent when you signed up to see what email was used and try copying and pasting it from that email.
